Catan: Cities & Knights is an expansion pack for the classic Catan board game that adds new layers of strategy and complexity. It introduces commodities like cloth, coin, and paper that allow players to upgrade their cities with advanced structures and access powerful progress cards. This expansion encourages players to explore multiple paths to victory beyond settlements, including development, trade, cultural influence, and military strength.

Players must also defend the island against barbarian attacks by investing in knights and defenses. If the group fails to protect the island, cities suffer setbacks, adding cooperative and competitive tension. Adding Cities & Knights creates a deeper, more strategic, and highly replayable game while maintaining the original game's core appeal.
