Catan Junior takes families with children ages 6 and up to a place quite different from Catan as we know it. There are no “settlers” around here. Instead, the players slip into the role of pirates who build their hideouts – called pirates’ lairs – all over the islands and set sail to find new places and build more pirates’ lairs there.
Catan Junior is a more accessible version of Catan, the original premium strategy board game. Your adventurous settlers seek to tame the remote but rich isle of Catan. Start by revealing Catan’s many harbors and regions: pastures, fields, mountains, hills, forests, and desert. Every game is different!
Catan experts will easily recognize that many essential elements of the Catan base game are included in Catan Junior, although – in accordance with the theme – they received different names: pirates’ lairs are built adjacent to islands, and if the islands’ numbers are rolled, the players receive resource tiles. The resource tiles depict gold, goats, wood, molasses, and cutlasses. These tiles are used to build ships and more pirates’ lairs or to buy development cards (here called “Coco tiles”), which are played immediately after their purchase.
In Catan Junior you will engage on an adventurous expedition to settle the isle of Catan! Lead your settlers to victory by clever trading and cunning development. Use resource combinations- grain, wool, ore, brick, and lumber-to buy handy development cards and build roads, settlements, and cities. Acquire your resources through trades, cards, or lucky dice (even outside your turn). But beware! Someone might cut off your road or buy a monopoly! And you never know when the wily robber might steal some of your precious gains!
Catan Junior is ideally suited for 2-4 players, ages 6 and up.
Get ready for a new multiplayer card game set in the Catan universe, it’s The Struggle for Catan! As in the original Catan board game, players need to manage their resources in order to build settlements, roads, cities, city improvements, and knights.
The Struggle for Catan is notably dice-less! This makes resource gain and exchanging based on each player’s developments, meaning less luck controlling the flow of the game. Control of roads and knights can change hands during the game, so don’t assume that what’s yours will stay yours. City improvements are expensive, but they bring you additional Victory Points and other bonuses, so strive to spiff up your cities! A new twist in the game is that certain developments are limited and can be stolen from other players once there are no new ones left. The first player to gain 10 victory points wins the game.
Mixing two copies of The Struggle for Catan allows up to 6 players.
The Struggle for Catan is recommended for 2-4 players, ages 10 and up. Gameplay lasts around 45 minutes.
You are head of a family in an Italian city-state, a city run by a weak and corrupt court. You need to manipulate, bluff and bribe your way to power. Your object is to destroy the influence of all the other families, forcing them into exile. Only one family will survive…
In Coup, set in the universe of Resistance, you want to be the last player with influence in the game, with influence being represented by face-down character cards in your playing area. Each player starts the game with two coins and two influence, each with a unique set of powers. On your turn, you can take any of the actions from any influential character, regardless of which characters you actually have in front of you, or perform a generic action available to everyone, like taking coins and paying coins to launch a coup. However, in this game of bluff and intrigue, any player could be lying, and calling their bluff puts you one step closer to winning. However, make a mistake and you could be shooting yourself in the foot…
The last player to still have influence wins the game!
Coup Card Game is recommended for 2-6 players ages 10 and up, and takes about 15 minutes to play.
