The F4U Corsair was an American fighter aircraft primarily used in World War II and the Korean War. As the most capable carrier based fighter-bomber of World War II, it featured the largest engine available at the time: the 2,000 hp, 18-cylinder Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial. It was the first US warplane to exceed 400 mph in level flight. The plane featured an unusual inverted gull wing to keep the undercarriage short while allowing the use of the large diameter propeller demanded by the powerful engine.
Now you can have your very own 3-inch-tall F4U Corsair with the F4U Corsair 3D Metal Model kit. This amazingly detailed DIY model starts as a 4″ laser-cut square steel sheet, and finishes as a beautiful 3D model.
